Hear About CLC

Click the bolded links below to hear some short audio clips from Pastor Jeff about our church, and about Christianity.  A new window will open, and it may take several seconds to several minutes for the sound clip to download before it begins to play:

  • CLC 101 - Pastor Jeff introduces the church, describes the people in the CLC family, and shares how God is working in us.  You're invited to become part of this family.
  • "Christian Life for the Real World" - This motto is the origin of everything we do at CLC.  In this excerpt from a sermon, Pastor Jeff explains the idea behind this motto.
  • The Gospel - Hear what all the fuss is about.  Why is Jesus such a big deal? Find out if YOU really need God.

History

CLC was originally called First Assembly of God in Kenner. The first services were held by Rev. Ralph Elmore in a local VFW hall. In 1963, the original building was constructed at the current Roosevelt Blvd. site. At that time, the pastor was Rev. L.O. Waldon. The original building still serves today as our fellowhip hall. The new sanctuary was added on late in the 1970s. Some CLC trivia: the fellowship hall is in Kenner, but the main sanctuary is in Metairie!

The multi-purpose building across the street was built in 1997. It's been used for dinners and various other events for the church. For several months after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the multi-purpose building was used to house relief workers as well as to store donations of furniture from out of state.
